Here are the latest updates.

ATLANTA – North Georgia and metro Atlanta are receiving a series of downpours and storms on Friday.

Parts of the region can expect heavy downpours accompanied by damaging winds and hail. There is a possibility of an isolated tornado as the Storm Prediction Center has placed most of northern Georgia in a Level 3 out of 5 hazard rating.

With most storms expected between Friday morning and evening, people should be aware of the weather ahead of Mother’s Day weekend.

8:30 am | Anticipating severe weather, Georgia Tech has adjusted the start time for Friday’s opening ceremonies. The doctorate ceremony was scheduled for 8 a.m. and the start time for the master’s ceremony was scheduled for 4 p.m. Details of planned changes can be found here.
