Cooldown, then more heat for the weekend – NBC Boston

A pleasant, windy afternoon continues across much of the region except for far northern New England where clouds and a few showers continue.

Skies are clearing for everyone tonight and low temperatures will drop into the 30s in the north and 40s in the south. The sun will greet us tomorrow and allow our temperatures to quickly rebound to 70 degrees, and there will be less wind too.

Clouds move in tomorrow evening and thicken overnight before some rain. For some of us it will start on Thursday night before dawn and last until early afternoon. Even after that, aside from a few breaks in cloud cover at sunset, we will remain overcast in many areas. So have the rain gear with you for the morning and Thursday lunchtime.

The wet weather marks the beginning of a return of heat which will be felt on Friday, then especially this weekend! In fact, we could be talking about record highs in the lower 90s on Saturday. Combine those temperatures with some humidity and it’s sure to be a day you want to relax.

Sunday won’t be as hot, but we’ll still be well into the 80s. Both weekend days will carry a threat of some thunderstorms, especially in far north and western New England – so keep an eye on the sky and remember “when the thunder rolls, come inside”.

Next week looks fairly calm and cooler with highs in the 60s to under 70s and some chance of showers, but no washouts.
