Parts of Ireland are expected to experience snow accumulations this evening and tomorrow morning according to the latest weather forecast for Ireland from Met Eireann.
Temperatures are also expected to drop below zero this evening with thunderstorms also forecast for this afternoon and night.
The Met Eireann weather forecast for Thursday says any persistent rain will subside, followed by sunny spells and frequent heavy showers in the west. Some showers will be heavy with hail and isolated thunderstorms, and will become increasingly wintery in the afternoon and evening. Cool to strong southerly winds veering to the west in the afternoon with temperatures of 4 to 8 degrees.
Snow forecast in Ireland for tonight
According to Met Eireann this evening will be cold and windy with widespread winter showers, some snow with accumulations in parts of Connacht and Ulster and on the heights. There will also be hail and scattered thunderstorms in the Atlantic coastal counties. Temperatures lowest -1 to +3 degrees, coldest in Ulster, with cool to strong and gusty westerly winds.
The Met Eireann weather forecast for Ireland for Friday calls for widespread showers of rain, hail, sleet and snow in the morning. However, during the day the showers will become less frequent and turn more to rain and sleet. During the afternoon rain will develop in the west and southwest. Temperatures 4-8 degrees warmest in moderate to cool and gusty westerly winds.
