Upper Rogue area resident Kim Smith, who was reported missing by his family on Friday when he failed to return home after a fishing trip in the Prospect/Rogue River Gorge area, was found dead on Sunday morning .
No cause of death was immediately available.
Smith’s daughter, Tami Serrano-Smith, said her father was found just before 10 a.m. with his dog, a black lab named Jessie, about 50 feet away.
Smith, a local sandblasting business owner and local youth coach, was reportedly last seen by family members at 3.15am on July 15. His truck was found later that day in the Mill Creek Falls parking lot.
Jackson County Sheriff’s officials, with the help of friends and family, searched for Smith and his dog Friday and Saturday.
Search efforts were canceled on Saturday evening and resumed on Sunday morning, with search parties locating Smith early in the day.
Jackson County Sheriff’s Department officials were still on scene Sunday morning and were not immediately available for comment. Serrano-Smith thanked search teams and community members for helping to find his father.
