Thunderstorm, lightning warning for Odisha, check the latest weather forecast from IMD

Even though Odisha is boiling under intense heat wave conditions, the rain and thunderstorm forecast by Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) is likely to bring relief to people.

IMD has issued a “yellow warning” for thunderstorms and lightning in seven districts of Koraput, Rayagada, Kandhamal, Gajapati, Ganjam, Nayagarh and Khordha over the next 24 hours. However, there is unlikely to be a significant change in the maximum temperature (daytime temperature) over the next five days over the state.

“The maximum temperature will be above 40 degrees Celsius in many places and likely to be above normal by 2-3 degrees Celsius in a few places in the interior districts of Odisha over the next four to five days. “, said the first meteorologist of the country.

Day-2 (valid from 08:30 IST 16.04.2022 to 08:30 IST 17.04.2022)

Yellow warning (to be updated): Thunderstorm with lightning very likely to occur at one or two places over Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, Kandhamal, Gajapati and Ganjam districts.

Day-3 (valid from 08:30 IST 17.04.2022 to 08:30 IST 18.04.2022)

Yellow warning (to be updated): Thunderstorm with lightning very likely to occur at one or two places over Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Angul and Dhenkanal districts.

Day-4 (valid from 08:30 IST 18.04.2022 to 08:30 IST 19.04.2022)

Light to moderate rain/thunderstorms very likely to occur at one or two locations over Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam and Mayurbhanj districts
