By Ruben Morales Iglesias: The Government of Belize will seek to pass two loan motions totaling $31.2 for COVID-19 relief and for the Climate Change Resilience and Sustainability Project along with other motions and bills during the special sitting of the House of Representatives on Friday, May 13.

The government normally calls for a special sitting when it intends to pass legislation or special motions in one sitting and that is precisely what the government intends to do on Friday.

As part of public affairs, the Prime Minister will introduce a $6.2 million loan motion for COVID-19 relief which will be funded by a loan from the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
The government will work to get this motion through all of its stages on Friday.

The government will also seek to take another loan motion for $25 million through all of its stages. This motion is for the Climate Resilient and Sustainable Project to also be funded by the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development.

Friday’s Special Sitting of the House of Representatives begins at 10:00 a.m. at the National Assembly Hall on Independence Hill in the capital Belmopan.
