While the weather is expected to remain unsettled on Thursday and Friday, Met Eireann is forecasting a significant improvement in the weather for the weekend with long sunny spells and only a few scattered showers.
According to the latest weather forecast for Ireland from Met Eireann, rain and drizzle will spread north across the country on Thursday but will turn mostly dry with sunny spells in the evening. High temperatures of 16 degrees in the northwest to 21 degrees in the south in a moderate to cool breeze from the south or southwest.
It will be generally dry Thursday evening with isolated showers, mainly in the south and west. Lowest temperatures 10 to 12 degrees in mostly moderate southerly winds, cool to strong at times along the Atlantic coasts.
According to the latest weather forecast for Ireland from Met Eireann, Friday will be a windy day with sunny spells and widespread showers. A few heavy showers are also possible. Afternoon temperatures will reach between 16 and 19 degrees in a cool to strong and gusty southwesterly breeze.
Friday evening there will be some showers in the north and northwest but most other areas will be dry with sunny spells. Lowest temperatures of 9 or 10 degrees in cool southwest winds.
Met Eireann say the weather is expected to improve on Saturday, with forecasts calling for a bright and windy day with long sunny spells and scattered showers. High temperatures of 16 to 19 degrees in a cool southwest breeze. Mainly dry overnight with clear periods. Lowest temperatures of 6 to 8 degrees with moderate westerly winds.
The weather forecast is also looking good for Sunday, with Met Eireann indicating that it will be a largely dry day with sunny spells and well scattered showers, mainly in the northwest of the country. Maximum temperatures of 16 to 19 degrees in generally moderate westerly winds.
